Well, an unusual day. No new classifieds. But new content has been added to Pictou County Links.com. Running a directory often exposes you to new sites that you may not have found otherwise. Today I added http://www.pictoucountylinks.com/the-hawk-road.html to the directory. And Lobster.ca. These are links to the dedicated pages in the directory they will not take you directly to their respective sites. To go to the actual site use the link on the directory page.
I found these sites while playing online poker. One of the other players had lobster.ca on his mouseover. So I asked him about it. He told me it was his friend’s site and that another friend had a site called “The Hawk Road”. So I checked out both of the sites and decided they should be part of the directory.

“The Hawk Road” is a similar venture to mine. It’s a geo-specific niche site that focuses on the South Shore of Nova Scotia. You might even say we are in competition. Anyway I think it’s a great site. Check it out if you happen to be reading this blog.

New content was added to Pictou County Links.com. It is today’s featured link.  You can view the listing at http://pictoucountylinks.com/pictou-regional-development-commission.html.  From this listing you can:

• Visit the PRDC website.
• Write a review of the site.
• Refer the site to up to five friends using Pictou County Links mail.
• Report a dead link or bad content.
• Read a description of the business.
• Get contact info.
• Rate the listing – Poor, Fair, Good, Very Good or Excellent.

New content has been added to Pictou County Links.com. I added another one of my local competitors Truro NS.com. This is a local guide for the Colchester area. It features local classifieds and local links as well as a ton of other local info. To see how the new link looks: http://pictoucountylinks.com/truro-ns.html.

I’m still waiting for a response from K-Links support to get my logo fixed.  Hopefully they will contact me early next week.  And the directory is growing but very slowly.  So far I have had to add most of the links myself.  That should change as traffic grows.  The urls for links should draw lots of search engine traffic.  At least that was the plan when I decided to use the K-Links software.  Time will tell.

Directory update: No new ads for Pictou County Search today. So here’s an update on the Links Directory. Although the “new” links directory is only a few weeks old it will be upgraded sometime this week. As I was adding new content to the directory when I discovered how much competition there is for a Pictou County niche directory. I was surprised to say the least.

I decided that my Tracecom Links just wasn’t good enough to draw the traffic I want. I need to have a site that is better than my competition. The competition being CKEC’s Pictou County.com directory and the PC Connects directory. So I have purchased some new software and I plan to have it up and running sometime this week.

The new directory will look like this demo. It will have more features than my current competion. it will have way more features than the current directory.  More features means more traffic because visitors will be able to find what they are looking for which will bring more visitors.  I can’t wait to get it up and running.

The only thing after that is to get a new domain for the site.  I’m still deciding but I think I will go with Pictou County Links.com.  We will see…
