Advice Articles at Pictou County Search

A new article has been added to the article directory at Pictou County Search.com.  The new article is about Body Piercing Advice.

Also I have added some temporary submission guidelines for the articles area.  Be sure to read them if plan to submit an article.  They didn’t quite end up where I wanted them so I hope to move them to a better spot soon.
Article submission is not free, however if you contact me through the site I will email you a discount code that will give you up to one year free.

I am also looking into having the business listings downloaded/uploaded to the site.  I have been in contact with the company and hope to hear back by next week.

Pictou County Town Websites

Did you know that all of the towns in Pictou County now have their own websites?  If you are interested in seeing a list of these town websites the following page has a list of the links: http://www.pictoucountylinks.com/regional/municipal.

Each of these pages also has it’s own information page that is specific to Pictou County Links.  From this information page you can:

  • Link to the actual website.
  • Write a review of the site.
  • Send the link to a friend (refer).
  • Report the link if it contains inappropriate content.
  • View a description of the site.
  • Rate the link from one of five ratings (poor to excellent).

Pictou County Search blows away the competition.

Who would have thought that a community portal for a small area like Pictou County could have so much competition.  Pictou County Search.com has three competitors in the Pictou County Portal race or at least three that stand out.  As nice as these three are their Alexa rankings are unavailable or non-existant for some reason.

Pictou County Search on the other hand has an Alexa rank of 345,911 out of more than a billion websites.  That’s in the top 10% in the world.  It was my intention to do a comparison here to show how Pictou County Search was doing against these other sites.  However, due to lack of data for the other sites I will just list the ones that I feel are the top five Pictou County Portals:

  1. Pictou County Search.com – The number one community portal for Pictou County.  See the Alexa rank for Pictou County Search.
  2. Pictou County.com – Local community portal affiliated with CKEC radio.
  3. Pictou County Connects – Looks nice but not very user friendly in my experience.
  4. Pictou County.ca – This site isn’t even up and running yet.  I wonder if they ever checked to see what they were up against?  It seems strange to me to start another community portal when you have so much competition.  O well some times it’s all about the quality of the competition as opposed to the quantity.  A good product will normally rise to the top.

  1. Pictou County Search.com – now ranked in the top 500,000 websites on Alexa. Only CKEC’s Pictou County.com has a better ranking.
  2. Pictou County Links.com – now has an Alexa ranking of 600,063. Those are great numbers for any local site.
  3. Pictou County Stuff – my other Pictou County Blog. It’s just random Pictou County thoughts thrown out there on a random schedule.

New Listings at Pictou County Links.com

It’s been a few days since I added anything to this blog.  I’ve been a little busy for the last few weeks.  And I’m still busy.  So busy in fact that I don’t have time to tell you about it.  Not that you would care even if you were reading, which you’re not because no one reads this blog.

Anyway, I have a couple of new listings to tell you about at Pictou County Links.com.  If you visit the specific pages you can write a review of the site or rate it ( one to five stars).

  1. The Sunrise Trail – I just found this site today.  It’s a pretty cool local site.  Obviously it’s about The Sunrise Trail.
  2. Municipality of Pictou County – This one’s new to me too.  I’ve never seen it before but it would probably be of interest to a lot of local residents.  Info on local services such as: 911, RCMP, Fire Services, etc.

Area902.com? Another Portal?

I can’t believe it!  I found another portal.  This one is for Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.  It’s called: area902.com.  Exactly how long this portal has been live I’m not sure, but this is the first I’ve ever seen of it.  The copywrite note at the bottom of the home page says 1999-2001.

It seems like a fairly busy site compared to PictouCountySearch.com but considering it serves a larger area it could use more traffic.  Area902.com serves Nova Scotia and PEI.  It has a Google Page Rank of 6/10 and an Alexa ranking of 2,211,787.  You can find horoscope, weather and lotto info.

More competition for me.  I’m very surprised but it’s true.  And all this after i just wrote a post about all of my competition.  Anyway I’ll add it to PictouCountyLinks.com in the portals section.
